Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan next week to attend two important meetings the Second Joint Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh and the World Leaders Climate Action Summit in Baku.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch explained that the Prime Minister will first go to Saudi Arabia on November 11 to join the Second Joint Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh. This summit is organized by Saudi Arabia and they will discuss the situation in Gaza and other areas. Leaders from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Countries will attend and the Prime Minister may have side meetings with some of these leaders.
After the visit of Saudi PM Shehbaz will go to Baku city of Azerbaijan to join the World Leaders Climate Action Summit on November 12-13. He will be joined by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and other officials. They will discuss the need for fairness in climate action and support for countries affected by climate change like Pakistan.
The Prime Minister may also meet other world leaders during the climate summit. The COP29 conference is important as climate change is impacting millions of people including those in Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz also visited Saudi Arabia last month for the Future Investment Initiative where he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss ongoing projects. During that visit Saudi Arabia announced it would add another $600 million to its investment in Pakistan bringing the total to $2.2 billion.
